I am reading the Quran and it is the same God. Imagine Christians were on the mind of Allah as expressed through his prophet. Allah is indeed mighty. With Him you have to come right. There is no playing around nor making excuses.
Also, Christians were on the mind of Allah when he spoke through Mohammed. In fact, if you read any Quran also includes the story of Mohammed you will find that Mohammed confided in one of two people in the beginning. One of them being a Christian. Always search and accept the truth. Read it only when you are ready so you will not get confused.
